Insurance
Fraternal Insurance - Members of the NCSFA have the opportunity to purchase a Fraternal Insurance Policy. It costs $10 per quarter per member. This is a decreasing term insurance policy with a fixed rate premium. The premium is $40.00 per year with the payout ranging from $30,000.00 to $2,000.00. The amount is dependent on age and may not be purchased after the age of 55.
Accident and Sickness Policy - This coverage is for line-of-duty deaths and duty related sickness resulting in death. The premium is paid by the NCSFA and the benefit is $50,000.00. Every member automatically has this coverage.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment - The coverage is 24 hours per day for on-duty and off-duty events. The amount of the policy is $10,000.00 and this premium is also included in the membership dues. All members automatically have this coverage.
Relief Fund
This fund is available to all departments that meet three (3) criteria:
- Belong to the NCSFA.
- File a relief fund financial statement with the NCSFA by October 31st of each year.
- File a Report of Fire Conditions with the DOI by January 31st of each year. The uses are defined by Chapter 58 of the General Statutes.

Grants and Scholarships
The NCSFA provides $124,000.00 per year in grants and scholarships. Applications go online January 1st of each year and are due in the office of the NCSFA by March 15th of each year.
Legislative Representation
The NCSFA monitors bills and actions of the legislature on behalf of the membership and the fire service of North Carolina.
Travel Agency
The NCSFA has a travel agency located on our website. We receive a commission from bookings and this revenue goes towards benefits. The next time you or your family plan to travel, please price our agency. Even if they cost the same as your provider, the royalties provide more money for Association benefits.
