N.C. Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service

Raleigh, N.C. – The sixth annual N.C. Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 1:00 pm in historic Nash Square in downtown Raleigh. A Memorial Parade will begin at 10:00am. At this year’s service two firefighters will be honored; Chad Green from Union Cross Fire Department (11/4/2009) and Adam Miller from Belmont Fire Department (12/29/2009.) Chad served as the volunteer Deputy Chief with Union Cross and was a career fire equipment operator with High Point Fire Department.  Adam was recently hired as a career firefighter with Belmont and he served as a volunteer Lieutenant with Millers Creek Fire Department in Wilkes County.  Adam’s passing came just 10 months after the loss of another Millers Creek firefighter, William Parsons (2/1/2009.)

Up to date memorial service information can be found on the N.C. Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NCFFF) website. The foundation has been working diligently on the planning of the annual memorial service. In addition to the memorial service the NCFFF helps provide immediate support to fire departments and families of fallen firefighters in the event of firefighter death. Check out their recently updated website for additional details on the support services they provide.  You can also help support the foundation by making a donation on their site.

I hope you or a representative from your department will travel to Raleigh May 6 and join families and fellow firefighters honor the fallen for their service and dedication to the fire services of this great state.
